COVID-19 Update

With increasing uncertainty becoming part of our everyday lives and continuing outbreaks of Coronavirus (Covid-19) around the world, we at Softbox® SilverSkin™ continue to focus on the health, safety and well-being of our employees, their families and our valued customers and partners around the world.

A Senior Management Steering Committee has been established and continues to closely monitor all government and local health agency updates in the regions and countries where we operate.

All of our facilities have implemented risk mitigation plans and business continuity strategies to help prevent the spread of the virus and ensure continued product supply to our valued global customers.

People

Working from home practices have been implemented where possible to protect our most vulnerable employees and assist with social distancing polices in each of global facilities. Communication systems have been extended to allow our global teams to remain connected and accessible at all times, regardless of location. All internal and external meetings are being held remotely unless face to face meetings are absolutely unavoidable, in which case meetings will be held with caution. All but essential business travel has been curtailed.

Our training programmes have been reinforced to ensure all of our production staff can be redeployed when needed in order to meet increasing demand with immediate effect.

All of our manufacturing facilities have implemented shift separation policies to prevent risk of cross contamination between staff, together with robust start up and shut down cleaning procedures to again mitigate risk of cross contamination. Should demand dictate a fourth shift can be implemented.

Supply Chain

Our supply chains remain robust with no current delivery issues being identified. Each of our supply partners have implemented similar risk mitigation strategies to help reduce the risk of spreading the virus further and to prepare for any disruption within their supply chains.

Softbox® SilverSkin™ continue to partner with multiple logistics providers each of whom have established distribution networks and the ability to offer alternative transport routes and modes when needed.

Softbox® SilverSkin™ operates on a global platform with manufacturing sites in the UK, Netherlands, USA, Latin America, India and Singapore. We continue to hold and increase safety stock levels of high demand products throughout our network.

Softbox® SilverSkin™ remains diligent and alert to customer demand in this fast-changing situation. We are ready to react to altering circumstances as necessary.

Softbox presents IoT connected cold chain packaging

Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire, UK, 2nd April 2019 – Softbox, a leading global innovator and provider of temperature control packaging for the life science and logistics industries, has announced the introduction of a new concept to bring IoT and connected digital transformation to the pharmaceutical and clinical trial cold chain distribution.

Softbox is leveraging emerging technologies and incorporating them into its temperature control packaging systems for day-to-day cold chain distribution. These technologies can help make better and quicker decisions, reduce waste in the supply chain and ultimately provide pharmaceutical companies and patients with medications on time, and in the best condition possible.

Softbox’s IoT project, developed in collaboration with market-leading companies, focuses on providing transparency on every step of the cold chain distribution process, from dispatch through to dispensing to the patient.

This new project, in combination with the already available Softbox rental program, solves many of the challenges pharmaceutical companies face today, such as sustainability regulations, cost-reductions, excursion management and real-time visibility of temperature, location, shock and light exposure.

Softbox is presenting this connected IoT project at LogiPharma on the 9th -11th April, in Switzerland.

SilverQuilt: Next generation thermal protection for temperature-sensitive cargo

SilverQuilt: Next generation thermal protection for temperature-sensitive cargo

The SilverQuilt™ achieves superior temperature protection for valuable, sensitive cargo, such as controlled room temperature (15°C to 25°C) pharmaceuticals, due to its specialist composition of multi-layered materials, and is able to protect freight within predefined temperature limits for extended periods during breaks within controlled supply chain lanes. SilverQuilt’s enhanced performance can provide protection for both +15°C to +25°C and +2°C to +8°C pharmaceutical products.

SilverQuilt’s unique construction insulates all areas of the pallet effectively, particularly areas that are at the highest risk of rapid temperature change, such as edges and corners. Its highly reflective outer skin protects against rapid temperature build up when in direct sunlight, extending the protection time when on the tarmac. The superior thermal protection provided by SilverQuilt’s layered construction also extends the periods of protection against cold ambient conditions.

In addition to providing quality thermal protection with reduced temperature exchange, SilverQuilt™ is water resistant and provides resistance against theft. It can also be shipped and delivered cost-effectively due to its compressible design.

Prior to its launch, SilverQuilt™ underwent testing as part of an extensive research and development process at TP3 Global’s advanced technical centre in Redditch, UK. The material was subjected to hot and cold environmental chamber testing, virtual cold chain simulation and thermal resistance (or R-value) testing. The test data, which was compiled by TP3 Global’s team of packaging technologists, will now be available to customers who undertake a risk-based approach in order to comply with Good Distribution Practice (GDP).

SilverQuilt™ joins TP3 Global’s existing range of qualified thermal protective covers, including SilverSkin™, a range of single-use covers primarily used during air, land and ocean freight.

Peter continued: “Our existing products, such as SilverSkin™, have achieved a solid reputation in the market, being tested, approved and now used by many of the worlds leading pharmaceutical manufacturers. SilverQuilt™ is the next logical step to support customers looking to protect controlled room temperature (CRT) freight with a high-performance cover solution with tighter control limits of +15°C to +25°C. The higher performance enables customers to consider the combination

of controlled lanes and thermal covers for +2°C to +8°C shipments, which was not possible with lower performance thermal covers.

With logistics providers improving the quality of controlled supply chain lanes, there are more options to utilise more cost effective thermal protection on palletised cargo.”
